All it took was a gf to purchase 20 buns at a go to nudge me to try Barcook inspite of the raving reviews and amazingly fragrant outlet at Clarke Quay's Central Mall. Even at 630pm, the snaking queus showed no signs of stopping with more people joining it.
There were originally 3 flavours left for grabs but were nabbed up faster than Edward Cullen can run; tomato and ham, mashed potato nachos and raisin cream. Everyone was there for just one flavour; raisin cream. Blind follow the blind we did! The famous raisin cream buns were so popular people were buying in tens nearly, causing quite a jam in the queue...at least the buns are freshly hot off the oven!
Cream Raisin ($1.30)
This could and definitely would pass off as the softest bread around, so pillowy soft that my toothless granny can handle. The raisin encrusted soft bread barely holds the scorching hot filling together, its molten cream cheese spills out effortlessly. The palatable cream cheese is easy to like but becomes an overkill once you indulge in more than a bun.
Not too sure if I'd queue again for it but at present, the other bread varieties are beckoning.
