A visit to Holland would not be complete without Heineken Museum, Heineken's as iconic as Disneyland in Florida or Tokyo. I've always held Heineken in high regard with such brilliant and memorable telly adverts..the last being the Men shrieking over their Heineken Room versus the ladies' walk in wardrobe. Heineken is usually my choice of beer next to Hoegaarden if beer is the only option, like it for the light and smooth taste.
We were issued open date tickets, a major benefit of pre-ordering your tickets! We managed to bypass the queues and off we were into the world of the famous...Heineken Beer.
Wristlets issued with buttons which we could exchange for 2 beers each at the end of the tour.
You get filled in with their history, tons of Heineken artifacts to snap crazily at...went through the motion of watching their corporate videos...view the entire beer making process...
Malt being the major ingredient that happens to smell god-awful. Demonstrations were done at various stages...samples were issued too along the way....
Heineken also rear their own horses in stables! Pity the horses were mostly sleeping so the furthest I got to them were seeing their butts. Finally at the end of 4 storeys worth, there is a room whereby you experience being made into beer, complete with water sprinkling, platform jerking gimmicks and if you are tempted enough, get your own customised bottled beer for a fee.
Enter the famous green bar. Heineken Bar they call it. Packed with people, the folks at Heineken recreated the equivalent of a pub, complete with cute guys. =P
Cheers to another century of Heineken goodness!
Frankly, I would not insist on a visit here, it is a no harm kind of visit...as with all touristy activities. Like any tourist, I could not leave without a souvenir or two.
