Occupying two stall places, this is quite hard to miss! Ah Yee's quite a household name for savoury kuehs, they even have their own namecards issued out freely.
Spy the remnants of a busy kitchen. By the time I reached the stall, most of the goodies were already sold out, save for the last remaining packets.
Soon Kueh ($0.80)
Yam Kueh Wrap ($0.80)
Glutinous Rice Kueh ($0.80)
All kuehs are similar to taste differing only in the stuffings. One with diced yam, glutinous rice and the other turnip. Well cooked stuffings that was not too soggy nor lacking in bite. The fibre was largely retained to give it an added crunch but definitely did not interfere with the overall taste. The skin is thin enough to be addictively chewy but not cloying. One of the best soon kuehs around!
Pumpkin Kueh ($1.50) that I could not resist. I like the pumpkin bits that were well embedded, ensures that it is not flavoured but made from scratch. Made from scratch always puts a smile on my face, could be the overall perceived freshness.
Tip: Drizzle your yummies with their famous chilli sauce! It is quite the bomb, really, without the pungent spiciness.
For freshness and a hint of something Grandma would whip up...Ah Yee's quite your answer to that.

Personally I prefer Yong's Soon Kuehs to Ah Yee's but when it comes to Glutinious Rice Kueh, Ah Yee's the best!
