I shall sheepishly declare how bad a shopper I am for souvenirs. Shanghai is one of those places that threw me off guard simply because I was not sure of my itinerary, how far the food places would be from the MRT and so buying souvenirs became a "pick along the way" concept.
I walked past this twice in a span of four days and the proportion of local customers and biscuit fragrance convinced me.
Dizzy rows of goodies to choose from, chargeable by weight.
Maybe it's to do with China and the paper bag packaging, the tagline..but the whole marketing concept worked for me.
For those who can make out where the other outlets are!
Nutty bars which a variety of flavours. I was halfhearted about getting these but the patient sales lady was egging me to try and recommending them so strongly. These are bars with chewy caramelized nut toppings and a smooth rich butter biscuit base. Amazingly or not, after a week or so, these still taste great! A colleague described them as "modern biscuits".
No stranger to these crunchy malt rice krispies, these came in a variety of flavours including black sesame, parsley flavoured and original.
I singlehandedly lugged back at least 2kg of freshly made goodies to much appreciation from those around. Don't ask me how but when good food is concerned, the foodie goes all out. :P So far nobody has said anything less of "delicious".

You should buy Jinhua ham back (its vacuum-packed) - excellent for soups and fried rice etc. The rest of the snacks in Shanghai can pass.
