Dimbulah @ Anson Road

Coffee is what it's known for, and amongst several foodie attempts..I go for what they are not known for. Dimbulah's for lunch.

Crab Asparagus Quiche ($5.90)

It's one generous slab of buttery pastry. The pastry base is firm and biscuit-like, delicious. My main grouse is the bland crab bits and fibrous slices of asparagus. Vegetables that aren't de-skinned are hard to stomach and it tasted raw. I ended up emptying the salt and pepper shakers and a satchet of tomato sauce just to make it tastier.

Mushroom Soup

Wild mushroom soup that looked menacing with that shade of black, it tasted a little watered down but otherwise wholesome. Comes with a toasty baguette.

Relatively busy over lunch, iced water was served way past after the food was served. To be honest, I've not had a mean quiche in ages...and I once thought Delifrance's version was commercial and just alright. Comparatively, it tastes way better. Fre(n)sh's version is too eggy..Dimbulah's too bland. The baguette sandwiches seem more enticing..maybe next time?

  1. I also find it hard to find a good quiche here. Have you tried frittata before? I got addicted to it while I was living in NZ. But it's non-existent in Sg! =(

P.S.: Can you believe we went to almost all the same makan places in HK?? All the famous ones anyway haha.

  3. Frittata is quiche-like but without the crust. Haha, I know many people like quiche for the buttery crust but I'm the type who likes the eggy filling more ha.

Look at http://myfoodsirens.blogspot.com/search/label/Hong%20Kong if you want to know which places I went. The souffle from Tai Ping Koon was oh-my-god-huge and nice! Btw, that's my old site =) Got a new one at wordpress now.
