新逸茶餐廳 @ Tsim Sha Tsui, Hongkong

The first 茶餐厅 we stepped into upon checking into the Hotel. These garish banners serve its full purpose garnering the attention of the ravenous and clueless.

In the most subtle monkey see monkey do act, make our way inside, get seated and order what they've got the largest and most colourful of pictures. If not, go with the usual Hongkong suspects.

Packed at midday.

Does it not remind of 真情, A Kindred Spirit (the long suffering misery inducing thousand episode 1990's drama that I enjoyed muchly), the open concept kitchen.

Handwritten orders...all things chinese, me loves that.

Of all dishes, the Dad went for Chicken Rice. Very different from Hainanese Chicken Rice or Five Star Chicken Rice..

The hongkies service yellow skinned chicken..so very different from our version of 斩鸡. The skin's thick with a layer of fats and the meat's chewy! Quite like our kind of Kampung chicken but juicier and meatier.

Ah yes, Wanton noodles. Springy QQ noodles in light broth and filled with plump wantons.

The slippery smooth skin reveals a minced ball of prawn and pork with a dash of 鱼, super yums!

A side of oil veg which surprisingly not the least bit oily!

Rows of these were sold on the outside of the shop, could not resist a bite.

Though the top most of the egg tart had solidified, the custard beneath was still beautifully smooth and wobbly. Crust, nowhere near our crusty or Tong Heng's pastry kind, it's biscuity and crumbly, so very fingerlicking good! For the first eggtart and non-signature, I was pretty much convinced the eggtarts to come will only get better.
