Kee Wah Bakery

Kee Wah Bakery is not as accessible as Wing Wah but they are mostly found at MTR Stations. I remember loving them years back, I rekindled the same love this trip!

Pineapple Shortcake with EggYolk (HKD 6)

Their pineapple shortcakes come in a number of flavours, I made a beeline for the traditional and attempted one with salted egg. The pineapple shortcake biscuit is so crumbly, it does melt in your mouth almost instantaneously. The pineapple filling is not sweet, but has that lovely chewy consistency that renders this a perfect snack or dessert. It is a meaner version of our CNY Pineapple Tart because of the generous stuffing. Of the two, I still prefer the pineapple shortcake proper, the salted egg seemed to rob it of the delicate balance.
