Chao Inn @ HK Airport Terminal 2

The Adverts in Hongkong always get you sitting up and noticing them. More often than not, they leave you going "wow, how brilliant is that." Chao Inn's advertisement is one of those, the mole on the lady is their logo and their "special discount" hours are featured.

2-5pm: 40% off dimsum
5-11pm: 30% off

Surcharges are waived the entire day!

That is what makes Hongkong dining tick sometimes, the amazing discounts given and flexible hours!

The outlet at the airport allows room for baggage and they thoughtfully watch over them for you after chaining them for extra security.

Chao Inn.

The usual two pots.

卷 (HKD 29)

Crispy roll packed with prawns, these had the dreaded bi-carbonate aftertaste. I hungrily wolfed it down all the same.

Addictive condiments, albeit oily.

山頭 虾饺皇 (HKD 29)

I was expecting a large prawn dumpling from the chinese name, the flowery naming conventions they have! The prawns aside, the translucent skin was so jelly-like, I found it delicious.

紫罗牛肉球 (HKD 23)

Beefballs with pineapples, bouncy and acquired taste with the addition of chives.

燒賣皇 (HKD 29)

Remember it as yummy, but nothing extraordinary.

奶黄包 (HKD 25)

The only custard pau for the holiday, was wishing and hoping it will be molten but was just custard within. The pau bread was fluffy like Singapore's.

叉烧包 (HKD 25)

The char siew was savoury which I liked.

山頭糯米卷 (HKD 23)

Quite a decent one.

The last of their fishcake noodles and seaweed, had this just to end the meal on a tummy-warming note. Normal stuff.

This meal was so very worth it because of the discount accorded but the food is not wow, good enough for the price paid. Service is decent too...
