I have to confess that I'm averse towards relatively new dimsum setups, always thinking that they are not as outstanding as the oldies (老字號) like Tiong Bahru Pau, Teck Kee Pau, Tanjong Rhu Pau or even Ho Kee. Well the thing is, all of these old timers started off humbly at a Hawkercentre too. Being 老字號 has its pros and cons, pros being they already have its loyal following that laps up its dimsum good or bad, cons being it restricts them from improving.

Snug in a corner of Bedok South Food Centre. I spoke to the friendly lady who says they've been around for a couple of years now.

Rows of goodies.

The cane baskets that they're steamed in...the cloth draped over..There's something about pau being freshly steamed that makes it extra nostalgic.

The chef hard at work.

Char Siew Pau ($0.60)
Well seasoned meat and fluffy buns warm the heart and tummy.

Red Bean Pau ($0.50)

Lotus Paste Pau ($0.50)
The pau is thick and doughy, much like mantou when eaten by itself. In fact I found it delicious on its own. Lotus Paste and Red Bean were equally delicious, smooth thick sticky paste that are not too sweet.
At relatively lower prices, these paus are affordable fare that does not compromise on quality. My family and I have been having these for two weeks running already...no wonder the long queues!
