High Tea @ The Atrium, Pan Pacific

Cravings are like fashion, they come in whims and fancies just like fads. The current food craze for me is 2 tier tea sets, rather anything that comes in tiers. Nothing beats eating a variety in bite sized portions in a leisurely manner and fulfilling this whole "have your cake and eat it" theory...what to do when the metabolism rate seems to be slowing down over the years? :P

Summerlicious Special by Pan Pacific caught my eye, it's 1-for-1 2 tier tea set from 3-5pm. Only leisure seekers need apply.

I found the tea cube uber cool! You get to sniff out the tea that you fancy rather than deciphering the fragrance by reading the fluffy description...I didn't know Vanilla tea smells so good!

Stuck to my favourite, caffeine free chamomile. Oh yes, it's refillable.

Still adore the sugar sticks to bits.

Leisure hails!

1st tier: Sandwiches and Scones

Honey baked Ham & Cheese

Albeit your ordinary rectangular sandwich, the ham and cheesespread was surprisingly delish.

Roast beef with Mustard and Cress

Sliced as thin as salami, just alright with this one.

Smoked salmon on Rye

Major major disappointment, the salmon was fishy, rye was too coarse...overall, bad.

Creamed Egg with Mayo

A generours dollop of egg mayo salad with fish roe on a baguette. Lovely!

Scones (Original/Raisin) with sour cream, whipped cream, strawberry jam and marmalade

This has got to be the star of the first tier, scones! Buttery, warm and moist. Slathered with the jam and whipped cream, tea made perfect. Main grouse, the raisin and original taste quite the same, couldn't really taste the raisins.

2nd tier: Cakes

Cheesecake
Blueberry on top of a jellied cheesecake, the cheesecake's sweet and dense. Not too bad a cheesecake but too sweet.

Petit Strawberry Tart

Envision a fat juicy strawberry sitting atop a custard swirl, nicely nested in a tart lined with chocolate. The tart's the same as the crumble, didn't quite fancy it as the taste was quite flat.

Petit Apple Crumble

Overall quite a soft crumble, the apples and raisins were quite flat in taste.

Chocolate Opera Cake

Soggy and slightly bitter.

All in, I enjoyed the dessert tier and scones more so than the savoury sandwiches. Service without a glitch, as expected of hotels. The best part is, yes it fills you up quite a bit despite the miniscule portions!
