Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits @ Changi Airport Terminal 3

Call me a noob but I've not checked out Popeyes before. Being in the vicinity, I had to give this a try despite being on a junkfood ban.

Environmentally friendly paper boxes...!

Focus on the irritating spoon that's made to jab and drop the food along the way from the box into the mouth.

My sinful order of a set meal, 3 Chicken Tenders with fries and biscuit, I topped it up by a dollar for a portion of onion rings. Was a choice of onion rings, mashed potato or rice with red beans.

One thing to note abt their hygiene conditions, the fried foods are wide open and the servers pick from this mass of fries, tenders, chicken parts to fill the box. The cook behind intermittently tosses newly fried stuff into this hill of fried food.

Back to the food proper, the chicken tenders are quite big in portions, at least it beats the KFC portions hands down. Slightly salty, the chicken's coated with a light batter. The fries are salted to begin, but the traces of potato skins somehow delude me into thinking real potatoes are used. I liked the shoe string fries, though not all fries had potato in them, funnily. Some were just fried skins.

The biscuit that has garnered a wagon of love-hate fans. Most like it, some don't. I fall in the latter. Jam's supposed to be given but none were in sight. This buttery biscuit is lightly salted, crumbles and is moist. I didn't fancy a salty biscuit, was expecting a sweet one. The Mom loved it.

The additional portion of onion rings greedy me ordered. The onions are dipped in batter and fried, probably the most natural onion rings with whole onions inside, as opposed to processed blended onion rings. Slightly oily.

The food at Popeye's has got more of the original form in it i.e. potato skins, whole onions...rather than processed. On the salty side however. Not the cheapest fast food you'd find around...the interesting thing abt their desserts is, they're also fried! Think fried cheesecakes, brownie bites...
