Lor Mee 178 @ Tiong Bahru Market

The famous Lor Mee, Shark Meat Lor Mee no less. The array of ingredients the Uncle pinches from each tray to assemble the dish. Under normal lunch hours I'd have to queue at least 10 minutes, dinner's much easier...pretty much nobody fights with you.

There! Yellow noodles soaking in thick starchy gravy, topped with crunchy chewy fishcake bits, shark meat fritters, loads of bean sprouts and....chopped garlic. chilli padi and a generous amount of vinegar's a must! All in $2.50, top up to $3 for additional shark meat fritters. I don't really get the major difference of the different fish breeds, shark meat's probably tougher in bite, otherwise, tastes pretty much like a dory fillet, if not slightly chewier. The yellow flat noodles and gravy are good on its own, flavourful in fact. I couldn't help but sip the gravy with vinegar.

Yes, your breath reeks of garlic thereafter, the burp too. I'm no fan of yellow noodles but for lor mee, I actually don't mind it that much. For such a delicacy, it's worth all the tolerance!
