Dragon Gate Restaurant @ HarbourFront Centre

Headed to Dragon Gate for a CNY Lunch! Didn't know it's under a group of restaurants that has 88th storey Steamboat...under its belt! Reminds me of Red Star, somehow..the wedding cake up on stage...the seats...old waiters...

Old school table setting...

Peanuts and a must-have bean paste chilli sauce condiment!

Somehow, most of not all CNY Menus resemble that of weddings!

Fa Cai Salmon Yusheng, there was a slight bitter aftertaste, not sure why...it came in a huge portion! Loads of shredded carrot.

Braised Shark's Fin with Crab Meat and Fish Maw...slightly on the gooey side with crab meat and shark's fin.

Five Kinds of Garnish Dish platter, this is seriously very old fashioned..the display...choice of cold dishes too! Dry crab meats, vegetarian goose meat, roasted duck, spicy jelly fish and octopus. Overall just okay, I liked the roasted duck best. The vegetarian goose meat was on the sweet side.

Sauteed Fresh Scallops with Ribena & Brocolli, delish! Brocolli was crunchy, scallops lacing the dish gave it a nice seafood taste! I took a double take at the description "ribena"??? No hint of that, unfortunately.

Deep Fried King Prawns with Lettuce, interesting change of method of cooking for this prawn dish that usually comes steamed or fried. The prawns were crunchy and heavy on the bicarbonate, with the mayo..it's not that bad afterall.

Steamed Live Garoupa Fish..very fresh and well cooked! The fish meat was very tender.

Steamed Chicken with Chinese Herbs in Lotus Leaf that reminded me of salt baked chicken, another interesting twist by Dragon Gate! They did away with the usual roast chicken or mongolian chicken...the meat and sauce went really well!

Braised Ee fu Noodles with Dried Sole Fish that weren't all that bad! Just a little on the soft side. I couldn't taste the "dried sole fish".

Red bean paste with peanut glutinous rice balls. Warm and not too sweet finish to the meal.

Overall not too bad food, with very creative twists to the normal dishes. Service is...decent. I'm half-hearted about returning though!
