DND @ Orchard Hotel

I guess in times like these, to be able to still have a Dinner & Dance calls for a celebration. The company's D&D was held at Orchard Hotel.

Traditional chinese setting, the napkins being folded like that somehow screams passe.

The first yusheng of the new year! :) Fatt Choy Lo Hei Salmon Yusheng.. Look at the number of ingredients that goes with it, the first time I'm seeing so many different types of ingredients apart from the usual shredded carrot, crispy crunchies...I found it too sweet.

Braised Dried Scallop Soup with Eight Treasures..just a stomach warming chinese soup..with plenty of shredded bits, not sure what exactly.

Deep Fried Prawn Balls with Mayonnaise Dip. The prawn ball tasted like the usual thaw-fry prawnballs. Nothing out of this world.

Ahh! I was looking forward to this must-have every chinese new year. Braised Sliced Abalone with Fa Cai and Dried Oyster with seasonal greens. Typically chinese, well cooked I'd say though the oyster has a taste that needs some getting used to.

Sauteed Chicken in Szechuan Kung Pao style! I liked this..pity the chicken pieces weren't generous.

Steamed Garoupa Hong Kong Style...Fresh chewy fish.

Another disappointing Stewed Eefu noodles with shredded chicken and chives, which isn't a surprise really.

Chilled mango puree with pomelo and sago. The pomelo sacs are bitter. :( Mango cubes are measly...at least it's creamy enough.

Food isn't too bad, something new from the usual chinese sit down dinners. Service like all banquets and wedding dinners, prompt and just polite.
