It's been a while since I had chinese food "outside", the pals were all game for some and we didn't want to travel to Marina Square for Dian Xiao Er..Asian Kitchen it is! No queue and we got our table for 6 very promptly. Asian Kitchen's got Xiao Long Bao...this one's tea chapter...not sure of the difference.
Service starts off nicely with "Mind your step on the slippery floor", regular refills of water, hurriedly clearing your plates and returning to ask if you want dessert <-- a clear indication of "moveeee out!".
Crispy Herbal Duck
This comes in three portions, small-large. Infused with herbs, this duck was herbal but nowhere near crispy. Well marinated I say but being a signature dish...I say Dian Xiao Er's version is way better.
Garlic Pork Ribs
Tasted like sweet and sour pork without fat. One of my favourites of the meal.
Broccoli with prawns
Artificially crunchy prawns with broccoli that one can hardly go wrong with apart from over cooking it.
Prawns wrapped with bacon
Couldn't quite taste the bacon in this prawn fritter. The mayo sauce that went with it was tasty!
Fried beancurd
Let's just say...it's beancurd, fried.
All in the bill came to $90. I find it steep given that we weren't full thereafter! Portions are way too small. Not worth the while especially when the food didn't taste that fabulous. Certainly it solved the chinese food craving, only to contrast and make the Mom's food taste so much better.
