Ah Teng's @ Raffles Hotel 2

It was a rainy weekend afternoon and the sis was lemming for my much raved about cream horne so Ah Teng's it had to be for high tea, after all the memorable dining experiences. It was filled with foreigners, Caucasians to be exact. There was a beeline for the sandwich counter and none at the pastry corner. Being side to side, I politely asked if I could just grab something from the pastry corner...I was given a curt "Nope, join the queue."

So I did...only to be faced with a clueless sandwich chef as to why I was in the queue when all I wanted was pastries. Anyhow, somehow everyone before and after me wanted a sandwich. And so I proceeded to the pastry corner (once again) and the waitress I encountered earlier on was hurrying all over the place...when I asked to be served she looked at me, and then at the foreigner behind me and back at me..as if wondering WHO to serve first!? Logically speaking should it not be me? In terms of order. This particular waitress by the name of D, served me most unwillingly.

Coming from Raffles Hotel...I say, what's wrong? For all the times that you've surprised with good service, that particular incident is utterly disappointing. Unfair treatment? I say yes to that. We all pay for the food, why should there be a difference?

The unpleasantry unfortunately does not end there.

Cream Horne, $3.50, the one we went there for! Generous in portion and fluffy pastry, one bite into it. Sour. It had gone bad, obviously. I brought it to the counter..without an apology...it was passed from one waitress to another before I was finally replaced with an Almond Croissant, $3.50. The pastry's nice and fluffy but the almond paste is meagre, all in..just a fluffy buttery croissant. For the service recovery, I say...bad real bad Raffles Hotel.

Cheese Stick, $2.10. I'm thankful for the saving grace! A lightly salted cheese pastry that isn't too salty nor hard.

Quality inconsistent...service doubly bad this time...Ah Teng's? I say...Ahhhh Ting! (rings the bell) Next please.
