Sushi Tei @ Vivocity

The queues at Sushi Tei on a weekday are acceptable, but the queues over weekends are freaky. Testified after I stood nearly 45 minutes waiting for a table. :S Poor management by the restaurant? Seemingly so for places like Sushi Tei, Kim Gary, Crystal Jade and Swensens across the entire island.

Headed there to expense a friend's birthday discount of 20% with the ST card. After the uber long wait, finally seated down...we went on a ordering rampage, maybe all that waiting exacerbated the hunger pangs.

Seafood Salad with crab meat, prawns, bed of vegetables and sauce to go. The sauce tastes good with nearly everything, sushi included. Not quite a person to order salads at a japanese place but nice attempt! The salad's actually good.

Sashimi with salmon and ika..the sashimi's just alright, not impressive.

Two plates of california rolls. What differentiates the sushi joints from one another lies in the sushi, the rice more so. Sushi Tei's sushi somehow taste better than Sakae, Genki and the rest. The rice is soft enough.

Sushi platter. A sight to behold when it came, a huge plate. 18 pieces of sushi. Very pretty to look at. With all the food we had, we had trouble finishing this. That being said, delicious sushi. I liked the california rolls and beancurd skin one best.

Beef Paper steamboat with spicy miso soup. The soup wasn't spicy at all! Flavourful though, the slices of beef that came with it were a measly 4 paper thin slices.

Octopus starter. Not an octopus fan...looked somewhat scary with all the tentacles twirling in the small bowl.

Grilled cream scallops. Creamy, decadent...reminds me of the scallops I had in Korea! ST's one isn't too bad, found myself slurping up the cream sauce. Finger lickin' good.

Hamburg steak
..measly portion, the beef slices were far and few.

Yes, that's what we had for 4 people. Lotsa of food! I like seeing the table filled with food...finishing it is another issue.

Service was...passable on a busy night like that. Overall, food was not too bad, for ST's standard.

$112 before discount, $90 after. Worth it!

Browsed ST's shoppe located just outside the eatery...weird that they'd use the space for a mini mart with highly marked up goods. A one-stop shop?
