Ah Teng's Bakery @ Raffles Hotel

Finally paid a visit to Ah Teng's Bakery at Raffles Hotel with a dear friend who loves high tea as much as I do...in training to be a tai-tai! Very oldschool...very traditional...

This caught my eye! Lunch specials from 12-230...teatime specials from 230 onwards. Somehow the whole chalkboard advertising entices me!

The interior...metal tins of biscuits...that takes me down memory lane. The colourful swirls atop small button biscuits...square butter ones...counters of goodies...

from cakes to pastries...the range of cakes was mostly chocolate..didn't touch any of that. The enticing baked goodness!

Finally settled on the cream horne ($2.70). Basically croissant with a generous squirt of custard. I'm particular about the taste of custard...but boy, Ah Teng's impressed me! The serving size of it is huge! Never have I seen a cream horne that size, nearly that of my palm...I say, very value for money! Complete with a glass of "complimentary tap water", delicious, soft...fragrant.

The friend had vegetable pie ($3.20) which wasn't too good and wasn't finished. :S The initial order was for pizza that went out of stock.

The service is...obviously good for a hotel like Raffles, and given that I didn't pay for service. The staff were helpful, at least they didn't just chuck a bottle of Evian or Sparkling water as with other places when I requested for water.

Lovely ambience, with the fans swirling...yummy pastry...old school, I like! It got a little too crowded towards the end of our lil tea time, kids bawling and all but I'll surely will be back for the cakes or..pizza!
