Aston's Specialties @ East Coast Road

Aston’s has been close to the heart for affordable grills and the family has been patronizing the East Coast Outlet countless times through the years, celebrating a number of milestones there as well. Astons Specialties has undergone several changes as well, opening and closing Aston’s Prime, opening several other Specialties outlets across the island and Resorts World being the latest to add to its stable.

Prime Tenderloin

All three had different cuts but strangely tasted the same, varying only in tenderness. With the exception of Black pepper, the rest came with mushroom sauce. While the doneness was well grasped – medium, it lacked the beefy taste or any char grilled taste. A far cry from its former glory though.

new sides

The sides were painfully disappointing – a stark contrast what Astons used to be capable of.  They had new sides like Mac and Cheese and Spicy Wedges available but the former was then declared “unavailable for the day”.

Fries – Portions obviously shrank. These paprika-dusted fries were still good.
Corn on the Cob – Over cooked suggesting it being steamed, buttered than grilled. Not all things taste that great double cooked.
Pasta Salad – Pasta was over boiled, ended up being mushy
Coleslaw – A tad stale and lacking in mayonnaise.
Mashed Potato – Decent at least!
Potato Salad – Another decent one.
Baked Potato – Overbaked to mush.

Their sides used to be outstanding good. Something went gravely wrong for Aston’s, whether it is the kitchen or the management. Inflation could be the key to this but sorely disappointed we were. Queues still remain so I wonder what’s keeping these people there. It is difficult to build a brand, easy to crush one. That’s Aston’s for me.
