There are restaurants I do not understand why they even need Groupon yet they are consistently on offer. Grand Pavilion is one of those places. Blame the location perhaps but I am definitely not complaining when as a consumer, I have all to gain and nothing to lose.
In my latest two visits I rounded up a table of 10 hungry companions and ordered a feast so massive, it was still so so so so worth it after the discount!
Crispy Roasted Pork
Cantonese style roasts hardly disappoint and I particularly liked the crisp skin and jellied pork. Great with mustard especially.
Barbecued Peking Duck
Now we are talking about the holy grail of roasts, the peking duck. That layer of gloss is worth salivating over.
Oh how it glistens when wrapped in egg crepes. I would very much prefer the bun version for more bite.
And without further intervention, the peking duck chopped up and displayed.
Roasted Crispy Duck
We also had a go at the crispy duck which somehow was not as crispy as desired. It just looked like peking duck with its skin on.
Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Chef's Special Sauce
Wok Fried Pork Ribs with Sesame and Fruits Puree
Any dish involving wok fried pork ribs is tasty, and both were delicious in their own rights. No particular favourite for the pork department.
Sauteed Scallop and Asparagus with Homemade "XO" Sauce
Braised Beancurd with Fresh Vegetable
Vegetables too were also delicious, packing enough wok hei.
Wok-fried Cube Beef with Sliced Garlic
Expect juicy medium beef cubes and a charred aftertaste for this dish. Super tasty and satisfying with a bowl of steamed rice.
Sautéed Sliced Beef with Mushroom
Somehow having the beef sliced so thinly made a huge difference in flavour too, this tasted more of mushrooms than the beef itself. I'd highly recommend the beef cubes over this.
Steamed Fillet of Garoupa with Beancurd and Homemade Sauce
I would have expected their steamed dishes to be bland, lo and behold they were not. A well executed steamed dish with great flavours.
Fried Prawn Tossed with Salted Egg Yolk
Always an irresistible order of their salted egg prawn dish.
