October is an important month for foodies – next to celebrating Halloween over gory looking food and going for fright fests, we can all look forward to Healthy Lifestyle Festival SG! It is a refreshed version of the Health Promotion Board’s National Healthy Lifestyle Campaign (NHLC).

The annual event organised by the Health Promotion Board carries the theme of “Live Healthy. Get more from life” and aims to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle among the general public. The entire festival adopts a multi-pronged approach to create and foster a supportive environment for Singaporeans to practise healthy behaviour in terms of eating well, physical, social and mental well-being.

Over October and November, the Healthy Lifestyle Festival brings 4 exciting roadshows in the heartlands! Expect a ton of free activities and many more! Activities vary from event to event.

I will be guest judging at the 30-minute Healthy and Tasty Cook-off, a cooking competition that puts participants in a 30 minute pressure test using ingredients like wholegrain, vegetables, fruit and
products with the Healthier Choice Symbol!

Being a homecook myself, I am totally looking forward to the creations of fellow home cooks, I bet it will be very exciting to watch all the action as a judge! Plus, I get to learn more recipes – better if they are easier to whip up too!

Shortlisted pairs of participants will go through a round of mentorship sessions prior to semi-finals which will be held at each roadshow (4, 11, 17, 25 Oct).  The winning pair from each roadshow will then proceed into the finals, held at the anchor event on 8 Nov.

What’s more? Participants can pick up a tip or two from hands-on cooking workshops and cooking demonstrations by chefs.

Get Active

There are free workout sessions and Join us as we work up a sweat at the free workout sessions and I am looking forward to their pilloxing classes, a combination of pilates and boxing. Sign up for the Exclusive National Steps Challenge™ Early Bird Special! to get a steps tracker*.

*While stocks last. Terms and conditions apply.

Think Positive, Feel Positive

Emotional well being is one of the important attributes to a good life and I agree very much with this pillar – think positive, feel positive! Participants can make their very own customised “positive message” badges, take home free hand-drawn caricatures and also engage their young ones in face painting and colouring sessions!

Screen for Life

Free BMI and eye screenings will be provided and tips will be shared on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

There will be fun activities for all throughout these roadshows so do make some time and join us!

I am particularly looking forward to the fun and adrenaline-filled ActiveSG Dance Fitness party on 7 November, at Singapore Sports Hub – there will be energetic workouts like Zumba, Bokwa, Piloxing and KpopX Fitness!
