Special thanks to Leen and Din Tai Feng!
This year I am terribly slow with the mid-autumn updates...not that I've not been chugging them through meals. While the mooncakes I have been indulging in can be saved for a separate entry altogether, here's a different take by DTF on mooncakes. Infact, I wanted to try them when I was in Taiwan last year - hooray for bringing them in!

Spotted at their dining outlets.

Samples too!

Priced at $24.80 per box of 8 and two boxes of Jasmine Tea. This makes a perfect gift set.
Hello there.
Crumbles so easily. The pineapple paste hovered on the sweet side while the gratifying bit came from the pineapple pulp that can be tasted with every bite. What was a letdown though was the crumbly tart that could barely hold up upon cut and that it hardly blended with the filling.

Nonetheless, it is a refreshing take on Mid Autumn, a possibly healthier alternative to 1000 calorie mooncakes!
Happy Belated Mid-Autumn's one and all!

I love DTF's pineapple shortcake, especially the buttery shortbread pastry crust, second best to Sunnyhills. My verdict:
ReplyDeleteSunnyhills (best overall/best pineapple fillings) > Din Tai Fung > Chia Te (best pastry crust) > Kee Wah (bleah) Taiwan 3 HongKong 0
And I want some now...
