Coffee-ing after
lunch is so common, it’s like the last course to lunch. The number of
joints littering CBD is astounding, as common as a salad bar or froyo
stand. While companions usually head for kopi or
teh, I rely on barley for enough sugars to last me through the second
half of the day
Coffee and Toast, $2.20
My favourite barley drink in CBD. Spot them whole barley seeds!

Iced tea for the companion.

The day they decided to be slipshod about it and plonked in the barley seeds separately.
Happy Toast, Barley, $1.80
Barley was a tad sweet but at least homebrewed with seeds at the bottom.

Happy Toast, Red Cane, $2.50

Happy Toast, Red Cane, $2.50
Mirana, Barley ($1.60)
CBD defines Raffles Place, defines healthfood with pricey tags, defines a hungry crowd regardless. Anything sold anywhere else beyond CBD may not achieve the same success - through this multiparter that I have done, salads, sandwiches, soups and now smoothies! Boy, do all health(ier) food begin with S? I would be more than willing to fork out 10 buckeroos for a milkshake in Orchard, the same way I would for a smoothie in CBD.
Brekkie ($5)
The Salad Shop
Banana, Honey, Homemade Granola
Their honey granola yogurt is a personal favourite of all time and that translated to exceptionally high expectations of the smoothie spin off. The mildly sour finish gave this a nice twist though I was expecting greater pleasure from this. Somehow the bananas used are a tad raw, inspite of the dash of honey..the smoothie was hardly sweet. Homemade granola is their specialty - honey roasted too but this was barely discernible except for the grainy texture. Would have loved it if they actually had honey roasted granola bits sprinkled on top. The closest fiend of oats blended.
Then of course, there were beverages that the CBD OL's would not be caught dead without one in hand, bubble tea aside. Truth be told, there are bubble tea shops around but not that common as compared to other areas.
Aloe Vera Honey Drink, Herbal Bar
At $4 a drink, this was mighty pricey. Herbal concoctions at the traditional medicinal shops would be cheaper though.
How could I leave out the coffee joints then? The latest kid on the block is Costa Coffee at Chevron House.

Crazily packed with people, as with every single beverage joint there is.

Lemon juice that was pleasantly sour.
Iced coffee that was pretty good! The smooth finish makes this a winner already. Prices are in the region of $4 onwards for both. Regular prices in such an upmarket district.
Until I'm back in CBD again, these post lunch drinking sessions will remain a beautiful memory.
Out of CBD again?!?
