I used to like Cai Png for the simple reason of variety at pocket friendly prices until I ate so much of it that I treat it with much respect still but at a distance. If given a choice in a foodcourt, I hardly would head for caipng anymore. It is perhaps the easiest way to get helpings from each food group that is required for a daily diet. Most if not all the time, the cai png stalls are the quickest moving ones because all it needs is slapping on of food and then you pay up. I managed to scour the few that were reasonably priced but not delicious all the time.
Mirana Cai Png, Chevron House
There are two outlets to this, a bigger one within the basement and another near Mr Teh Tarik. Service is non-existent so holler as loud as you can and make your decisions quick else face the wrath of a sour-faced auntie. Within the basement there is another stall that does refined cai png, the companion incurred a pricey bill of 12 buckeroos for 3 meats and 1 vegetable before!
Prices are in the range of $5-6 for 3-4 dishes.
The chicken was
utterly bad. So bad, I could not stomach another bite. Dry and marinated
with spices so weird, I must have mistaken it for tandoori chicken

Beansprouts and tofu, bittergourd, black pepper chicken
A consistent favourite of tofu and beansprouts though my main grouse about this is the gravy that they slap on too generously - the rest of my dishes end up swimming in it! Ordinary black pepper chicken.

Burgedil, minced pork omelette, brocolli, beef rendang
This is possibly the most delicious combination.
Hong Leong Building
Word has it the whole foodcourt is owned by one person not that I care very much for it. Possibly one of the few coffee shops that has decent food across all stalls. Variety is not huge though. Experience at this was not great, in fact the cashier was so annoying, I remember leaving in a huff. The companion however received a discount! Whoever gives discounts at cai png stalls.

Portions too small but decent tasting dishes.
Whole Earth Eating House, International Plaza
Nested within International Plaza, this has to be one of the least crowded cai png eateries there and rightfully so because it ended up such a pricey affair. The meal cost me a $5.70 in such miserly portions too! Seems like it is cheaper to eat noodles or fixed dishes instead of cai png there.
None too outstanding, pretty ordinary in taste I say.
The point about cai png is, the food is hardly too outstanding. Good enough to quell the hunger and that is it.
