The Rotisserie @ China Square

I’ve long heard about Rotisserie’s roast chicken and salad – that is what they specialize in anyway! Always crowded, if there is any gauge, the takeaway queue is as long as the dine-in queue.

Sighted before 1230pm. Crowds start piling in at 1230pm and queues drag for nearly of eternity.

Quarter Chicken with Fries ($11)

Wins Kenny Roger’s handsdown for tender juicy chicken! Absolutely tasty and that explains the queues and craze that people have for Rotisserie. One secret recipe and they nailed it left right center. I am not too hung up over their lukewarm fries however though dousing it with gravy does get you pretty decent soggy fries.

The second visit was hot on the heels...and this time, the clucking good one was the choice of meat over the rest!

Depending which quarter of chicken you’re given, I ended up with the wing and larger portion of breast this time round. The portion of sides also varies according to what you pick – hot chips (1 portion), vegetables and salads get you two. I chose roasted salad with walnuts and sweet potato and coleslaw. The other salads were potato salad, Chinese noodles and riccotti. Instead of cauliflower gratin, there was also mashed potato and buttered corn. Hearty sides I say! Still hooked on the chicken as much as I would have wanted to have a go at the pork knuckle or pork ribs.

veggies

Vegetables have a choice of cauliflower gratin, peas, corn and mashed potato and I get to choose 3 out of 4! The pork knuckle’s portion is huge but reminded me of the takeaway pork knuckles at Haupbanof Station in Frankfurt – too salty, too marinated, too pink. Unimpressed by this and a far cry from their roast chickens.

That warrants another visit. Did I mention the lemon drizzle cake also looks insanely good?

Weekend brunch beckons!

With another outlet opened at Rail Mall..I sure do hope they continue opening more! Spread some love to the Eastern side of Singapore, much appreciated!
