Prego Revisited @ Swissotel

I used to frequent Prego quite abit in the past and for some reason stopped doing so. The FeedAtRaffles card is giving me heaps of reasons to check out.

special menu

Tomato celebration?

interior

The rest of the place that was filled up almost soon after we were seated.

bread sticks

To chomp.

bread

Gone is the huge bread round that they used to serve in a jacket, replacing it is grissini bread sticks and one portion of sundried tomato bread.

riccotta cheese

Jars of cream.

tomato bread

Slightly coarse, this was still tasty and came paired with Ricotta Cheese in a jar. Cheese and olives is an odd combi for me, not the greatest of spreads to lather my bread with.

prego pizza

Prego Pizza ($35)
Proscuitto parma, buffalo mozzarella, arugala, tomato sauce

There was a choice of having a thin or thick crust. I chose the latter and ended up with a soggy one which truly baffled me. Aren’t thick crusts able to battle against moist ingredients better? Lacking in taste as well, I was already headed for disappointment.

squid ink

Saffron Fusilli ($34)
Crab, Zucchini, Chives, Seafood Cream Sauce

The waiter heard our order wrong and instead of fusilli, the pasta ended up being squid ink tagliolini quite unintentionally and we did not bother to clarify considering how dismal it already looked. Crabmeat chunks and tomatoes haphazardly tossed with squid ink pasta that tasted just like yee mien. Unimpressed.

Two bad mains was enough to steer clear of their desserts. Even at 50% off, I did not feel justified with the quality of food. My impression of Prego just nosedived. The question is…when will I have enough guts to return for their suckling pig?

  1. I've stopped going to Prego coz their menu's so limited now! They've taken away a lot of the stuff I loved about that place.
