Unveiling the lotus leaf packaging always is an experience - though rice dumplings all look the same, not all turn out to be the same rice pieces as expected. These rice grains were beautifully packed - nary a grain out of the chunk.
The amazing thing about this dumpling is the kungpao sauce actually spills out upon cutting up. Almost like a molten filling, the gravy spills over the dumpling coated the chewy rice grains gorgeously. Loved the spicy kick that the dried chillies provide, a different take on what has been dominated by the cantonese, nyonya and teochew flavours. Also loved the chicken chunks that retained much of its flavour and bite despite being braised for hours.
Totally sold, totally satisfied. Famous this is, gotta make a mental note on this next year!
