Queen and Mangosteen Revisited @ Vivocity

Finding an alfresco dining place for drinks is quite limiting at Vivocity, unless you are willing to traipse across half a bridge to Wine Connection. To name a few - Cellar Door, Brotzeit, Modesto's and possibly also Queen and Mangosteen.

bar

Though I have been to Queen and Mangosteen tons of times, this has to be a first sitting outside.

al fresco

Under the canopy, this was ultra relaxing and enjoyable. No wonder diners usually opt for outdoors for drinks.

drink until he looks cute!

The tagline got me laughing belly up - "Drink until he looks cute".

menu

Their laundry list of drinks - cocktails, mocktails...you name it, you probably can find it.

margharita

Strawberry Margarita ($16)

This was a tad sweet but that's characteristic of a drink that suits ladies and is one anyway. This drink would have been better if the blended ice was not so melted.

tequila sunrise

Tequila Sunrise ($16)

Pretty drink that I did not try but the pal loved it enough.

bellini

Bellini ($15)

I remember not liking it the last visit but the champagne loving chum did. Personal preference I guess.

sex on the beach

Sex On The Beach ($16)

Here's my usual order apart from martinis. My benchmark of a good SOTB goes to Blooie's Bar some donkey moons ago. Queen and Mangosteen's was bad. Unsexy one. This came together as a poorly concocted drink in all aspects; not as chilled, no brainfreeze or sugar overload from this. Very disappointing.

skinny fries

Skinny Fries ($8)

These salted friends were really regular cut fries, I was expecting a skinnier version. Do request for their uber delicious curry tartare to dip.

fruit crumble

Fruit Crumble with Vanilla Icecream ($12)

The last attempt was as moderate as this. Still not a fan, unfortunately.

Good thing or not, I have learnt to appreciate the beauty of alfresco wine-ing. To more of such hangouts, cheers!
