Delicious @ Scotts Square

delicious

Gobsmacked opposite Maison Kayser is Delicious, a chain from Malaysia. In Malaysia, it is as ubiquitous or in fact more common than Old Town is. Most of the major shopping malls in KL had an outlet. The one and only outlet is at Scotts Square and has been grabbing attention for its design and showcase of desserts right at the doorstep. Reservations for a party of 12 were made well in advance over email but was mixed up at the door and I was shown to a table of 5. The confused start certainly did not impress.

table

Menus in such a pretty shade!

fabric painting

Lanterns are their icon, here, there...everywhere!

woody interior

Incorporating wood elements into the decor, me like!

cushions

Cushions included. You can imagine the fair amount of time I spent snapping whilst waiting for the companions to arrive. Fairly empty for a weekend brunch, the place still has not gotten much crowd, mainly walk-ins.

crabmeat pasta

Homemade Pesto Linguini ($12)
with Sundried Tomatoes and Pine Nuts

mushroom tomato pasta

Aglio Olio Spaghettini with Shiitake Mushroom and Sundried Tomato ($13)

The companions had a go at their pasta dishes and considered them more than decent. Plates were polished clean as a sign of satisfaction.

chilli carne con fries

Chilli con Carne Cheese Fries ($9)
with Sour Cream and Melted Cheese

I felt peckish and sinful...coupled with chilli fries on the menu - I was sold. Looking less than spectacular, if Wendy's Chilli Beef Fries were by any chance the yardstick...these were completely opposites - drab, soggy and hugely lacking in sin. How can a combination of melted cheese, beef and fries ever go so wrong?

sticky date pud

Sticky Date Pudding ($8)
with Butterscotch Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream

Saved by the gong. Sticky date saved the day! For once, the gamble did pay off.

pouring

Looks like a sticky date souffle in the rameskin. I poked a hole and filled it up nicely with caramel.

caramel

Delicious! The sticky date was a tad dry but anything with caramel is a match made in heaven. Even without vanilla beans in my icecream, I was as happy as a lark.

pavlova

Berrilicious Chocolate Pavlova ($8)

They had a chiller full of desserts and having to choose was a pain. The companion headed for a not too hot favourite pavlova. I can count with one hand the occasions I ordered one.

pavlova inside

I would not call it dreadful, it just was not great in all its crumbs and sweetness. Never been a fan of pavlova, still ain't one.

macadamia cheesecake

Macadamia Cheesecake ($7)
topped with Crunchy Macadamia Nut Brittle and Caramel

This completely steals the day for being worst dessert alive.Yes, I said it. Texture was odd, foamy and somewhat stiff. Cheese was clearly missing and the base was too soaked through to make sense of it. We struggled to finish it.

Their desserts are supposedly above average but I am on the fence on this. Pastas seem to receive pretty good comments around the table. Not leaning on a return though...an undelicious experience.
