Nueva Cuba @ Customs House

menu

Neuva Cuba belongs to the same group that brought us Cuba Libre. Cuba Libre was the first experience with Cuban cuisine and it left pretty good memories. Brought the khakis to Neuva Cuba to continue this Cuban experience, hopefully it would be as good as Cuba Libre!

fajitas

Chicken Fajitas ($24)
Grilled Cajun Chicken, Mozzarella Cheese, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Salsa

I am a noob when it comes to Cuban food and this mexican delight made its way into the menu. Came in a sizzling hot pan, melted mozzarella cheese on anything is already a winner in itself. This course was tasty on its own and in a wrap with guacamole, sour cream and salsa.
cod

Pan Seared Cod with Romesco Sauce served with Seasonal Vegetables and Choice of Sides ($26)

Well seared cod with crispy edges though the romesco sauce got us all baffled - garlicky sauce with an orange hue.
lamb rack

Braised Lamb Shank with Seasonal Vegetables and Choice of Sides ($26)

Not a fan of the sauce though the lamb shank was decent. The basmati rice and gravy could possibly pass off as briyani.
ribs

Grilled Marinated Pork Rib glazed in Smokey Homemade Hot Sauce on a bed of Patata Bravas served with Vegetables ($24)

Yes I love my ribs tough but not THIS tough! Not a tender moment in this rack of ribs. Credit given to the smokey homemade hot sauce that was mildly spicy.

We were not inspired enough to try out desserts, assuming they had them!

Food was decent at best, though I am still not too sure what differentiates Cuban food from Mexican or Western. While Wiki has tried to clarify claiming it is a mix of "Spanish, African and Carribean". Service was blotchy - an order of white wine took three failed attempts.
view from customs house

View from Customs House. A view like that makes Customs House a hot choice for dining yet I need a greater trade off to be back at Nueva Cuba soon.
