Mel's Bistro has been around for a long enough time for me to attempt it one evening. Just like how certain places have withstood the test of time and competition and you finally decide to give it a go. The gf deemed the place "more than decent" so I had to check it out.

The place reminds me of a beer garden or Villa Bali of the East, with a resident band that plays daily. Good accompaniment with beers or tapas but a notch lower than lounge musicians.
Bemusing for smoking areas to be sheltered whilst non-smoking areas are not.

Snooker anyone?

All things simple.
Chicken Porcini ($21.50)
Panfried tender chicken with wedges and root vegetables...tasty!

Rip Those Ribs ($25)
Homemade BBQ Sauce and Fries
Known for their grilled meat, their ribs fall under the category of "fall off bone" tender. Decent tasting ribs with old fashioned criss cut fries.

House Pizza ($12)
Befitting of the bar menu that they had, the pizza had a thin cracker base (think Harry's) with very homemade ingredients - a touch of hawaiian with pineapples, a touch of italian with an egg cracked in the center and a touch of american with chipolata sausages. A dish the more culinary-inclined can whip up in a jest.

Mel's Burger ($17.5)
200gsm USDA Beef patty, cheese, mushrooms, bacon, egg, fries
Open-faced burger with a minced meat beef patty and the works of bacon, cheese and sunny side egg. Enjoyed the burger quite abit - for its heartyness and chargrilled fragrance.
Food at Mel's hovers above average though not spectacular. Service is friendly and prompt with minor glitches on communication. Otherwise, an eager to please hangout.
