L'Angelus Revisited @ Club Street

Finding a dessert place at ASH on a Saturday night can be quite a task. Dropped by L'Angelus for some quiet time - without the half drunkards lining the streets creating a ruckus or some boisterous crowd trying to celebrate someone's birthday.

There's something about the service at L'Angelus that puts me off. Bordering on artificial and contrived, they slang their way through the exchanges. The bartender claimed they were full house for the night and offered us a makeshift table. Yet, throughout the couple of hours that we were there, it was not full. Three quarts full, at best.

chamomile

We shared a pot of chamomile tea that did not allow for refills of hot water. Came with three dainty cups and three dainty chocolate cups.

choco swirl

None of us bothered enough with this.

cook on the spot

Our dessert made on the spot! Desserts like baked alaska and crepes suzette that get made on the spot pique my interest muchly.

crepes suzette

Orange suzette

Three dense crepes drizzled in orange sauce. Thought these crepes had a slight rubbery texture.

minute apple tart

Still a fan of their apple tarts! Insanely crispy pastry layers.

L'Angelus...their apple tarts still have me at hello. Their service needs heaps of improvement but it'll still be on my list of regular hangouts.
