Hotcross Buns (6 for $7)
Not too long ago, there was Easter. From a consumer's point of view, it mean there was a deluge of seasonal items to try! Easter eggs in all sorts of flavours and shapes (limited to eggs, bunnies, chicks), cookies, hotcross buns (chocolate, spiced, cranberry, raisin, orange...limitless possibilities), cookies and also chocolate lollipops. The range seems to widen itself every other year yet the diehard in me is restricting this seasonal binge to hotcross buns and the occasional easter egg.
Cedele came up with a series of flavours for Easter (Orange Cranberry, Chocolate, Classic, Cheese Walnut) but I could only lay my hands on the Classic. Tried them two ways; fresh off the pack and reheated in the oven. Preferring the former way of eating better. Somehow reheating it caused the bun to be drier and crumblier to hold. To Cedele's defence, it could be the flour the flour they used which gave the bun a dry texture. Nothing a dab of jam or butter cannot salvage though. I miss the dense chewy buns I had in yesteryears!
