Ichiban Boshi have expanded beyond just sushi and sashimi to include Katsu Don in its menu. Like Teppanyaki Sake, this particular outlet at Parkway specialises in Katsu Don...or so they say.
I had a LOL moment when I saw this making its way around the conveyor belt. They microchip the sliced salmon? No further clarification was made, however.
Pound your own sesame seeds...an activity that was started off by Tonkichi...Yoshimaru followed suit.
Bou Hire Katsu ($12.90)
A weak attempt by Ichiban Boshi in rivalling the Katsu Royalty - Tonkichi.
First up, the 20 minute wait resulted in a barely lukewarm dish served. Secondly, the katsu roll tasted awfully bland. The crumbs were barely crispy. Thank goodness for the fragrant sesame sauce that saved the meal.
Ichiban Don ($12.90)
Termed "to die for" by R, simple vinegared rice with a layer of sashimi and peppered with chilli padi. I would not term this TDF for it was a pleasant surprise coming from Ichiban Boshi. Liked it enough to keep stealing bites from the bowl!
Lobster salad sushi..psuedo methinks but was oiishii nonetheless.
More of it that got R annoyed.
Ichiban Boshi was once a better alternative to Sakae, to date it has superceeded but for Katsu..I say steer clear of it.
