Soup Restaurant @ DFS Galleria

DFS belong to a part of Orchard that I hardly step foot on. Somewhere out there lies a different kind of Soup Restaurant, greater pains were taken to replicate a setting of China, complete with artificial willowy trees and the mini lakes.

Step into China.

Appetizers of braised peanuts which I could not stop picking at.

Soup of the Day - Pork Rib, Lotus Root Soup

Suits the cantonese to a T.
Soft pork ribs, a result of long hours simmering in the pot.
For once, I enjoyed the tendons, cartilage and gooey bits.

Sweet Potato Leaves (Mild Spicy)

Supposedly a peranakan dish but Soup Restaurant did a decent take on this.

Claypot Tofu ($8)

Supposedly signature but I'll write it off as ordinary.

San Yu Fish Slices Fried with Ginger and Spring Onion ($10.80)

Fish slices were cut too thin for the firm meaty bite I wanted, lacked wok hei unfortunately. Someone, please refer Holland V's famous XO Fish Head Beehoon recipe to them.

Samsui Ginger Chicken ($14.80)

By now, I was losing interest in their "signature" claims.
Plates with food filling up every visible inch equates to beautiful, in food terms.
A mixture of chicken breast and thigh cuts.

Raw lettuce furnished to wrap the chicken meat with a generous dollop of grated garlic.
Refreshing and naturally sweet.
Soup Restaurant redeemed its "signature dish" title after this.

Grandma's Mee Sua

Think scissors cut  bland mee sua.

Dian Xiao Er's under the same parent company as Soup, I figure I'll still stick with the former for a heartier meal. Soup Restaurant pleases the health-conscious, however.

A slight service glitch occured when we wanted the food to be served up, delayed. Instructions were given but they were served anyway.
