Logcake @ Dona Manis 2

Second logcake this season...! I wonder how many more I'll eat through before 12 days of Christmas is up. A gift from an aunt, who had all but praises for it. The chef was from Goodwood Park previously but left to set up a business independently. Dona Manis, one of the unlikely places to find a logcake, afterall I only know them for their old school banana pies.

Chocolate Logcake, 600gsm, $32

Everything about the logcake is light on the palette. Buttercream so light in flavouring, you barely taste the chocolate or hazelnut. The spongecake so light in weight and taste, the cottony texture was simply addictive on its own. It's old fashioned in many ways than one but considerably a breath of fresh air amidst all the rich logcakes. Old school in decor (chocolate rice, chocolate shavings and hardened buttercream) but the texture of the cake was almost like what neighbourhood bakeries or even Chin Mee Chin would churn out. Not bad!
