Do not ask me why I ended up at Miss Clarity's for dessert when there are truckloads of choices. The initial plan was to head to Food For Thought but it smelt so bad of grease and meats so we tossed the plan out of the window.
Apologies for the lousy pictures because the lighting there is way too dim.

Caramelised Apple Crumble ($5)
Soft caramelised apple topped with crumble, salted caramel and a scoop of ice-cream.
This is a joke by itself. Three of our jaws dropped when we saw it, upon polishing it, the same reaction was elicited from the table next door.
After 2amdessertbar's deconstructed dessert, I was almost certain that deconstructed was for the atas dessert places and declared myself a non-fan. How wrong am I proven at Miss Clarity's. An attempt to provide arty desserts at cafe prices?
Deconstructed it sure was with 4 caramelised slices of apples, crumbs that I could certainly count, drenched in a cough syrup tasting sauce and topped off with Meiji vanilla ice-cream. At the back of my mind I was wondering; I could actually put this together at home!
By now, you'd have gotten the drift how against I am towards deconstructed desserts. I prefer my desserts whole, sinful and filling.

Banana Tart ($6)
"To die for!" Homemade caramelised bananas encased with pâte brisée. Served with vanilla icecream.
In comparison, the banana tart fared so much better. I was beginning to wonder if it's a trick on the part of MC for customers to head for both the tart and pie at once. (Two tables a good enough statistic?) Pâte brisée is a rich flaky dough used for sweet and savory crusts but I tasted more of a pasty chewy base than "rich flaky". The banana slices were generous but lacking in flavour, possibly because the bananas were too raw.
Definitely not the best of places to enjoy a good dessert, it was one of those misses that Miss Clarity has had.
