Yoshimaru Ramen Bar @ Lorong Liput

I get easily influenced by the media, movies and dramas are powerful tools to "brainwash" a consumer's mind. Case in point; TVB's Moonlight Resonance was deliberately shown over TV near Mid-Autumn, Heart of Greed 1 showcased tons of abalone..Confessions of a Shopaholic made me itch to shop. And now, Ramen Girl got me all interested in Ramen. I've not quite a fan actually but I was quite keen on eating Ramen thereafter.

To prove that females aren't the only victims, R had the ramen craving too.

Yoshimaru Ramen's managed by Jumbo Seafood and it opened in March 2009.

Here's the education of Yoshimaru's Ramen

Yoshimaru’s specialty – is Hakata ramen, which is a thinner type of ramen noodle, served in tonkotsu (pork bone) soup. This type of soup is found througout Kyushu, in the form of a creamy white broth. -- Soshiok

Wiki says, Ramen originated from China (!!) and every perfecture in Japan has its own ramen. Three types of ramen that is mad popular in Japan;
  1. Sapporo for miso based ramen, it is typically topped with sweetcorn, butter, beansprouts, finely chopped pork, garlic and served with seafood.
  2. Kitakata (Northern Honshu) for thick, flat, curly noodles served in a pork-and-niboshi broth
  3. Hakata for a rich, milky, pork-bone tonkotsu broth and rather thin, non-curly and resilient noodles, distinctive toppings such as beni shoga (pickled ginger), sesame seeds, and picked greens.

Limited menu..

The screens were showing Japanese mtvs all night long..

Sesame seeds to pound...ah finally! [I must get to pound them at Tonkichi someday!] Fragrant seeds but didn't do much to accentuate the taste of the food.

Yoshimaru.

Moridakusan Ramen ($14)
Soft boiled egg, Leek, Mentaiko, Bean Sprouts, Cloud Ear Mushrooms, Seaweed, Takana

Also known as "All In" signature Ramen for the abundance of ingredients added. The ramen's like wanton noodles, thin and slightly springy. It got softer after soaking in the broth though. The broth's flavourful and not oily. It's on the bland side though.

Burger Trio ($8.80)

Hakata Mini Teriyaki Burger
Hakata Mini Mentaiko Mayo Burger
Hakata Mini Spicy Burger

Surprise surprise. They reminded me of MOS burgers, in mini versions. They tasted more than decent! The bread's fluffy, the ingredients although Asian went well with the burgers.

Gyoza Platter, Chicken ($6)

The skin's thin and chewy, not the best I've eaten.

Tonkotsu Tan Tan Mian ($12)

I prefer this to the All In Ramen I had, much stronger on flavouring and taste.

It's surprising how the non-signature items upstaged the signature "All In" ramen, unfortunately I'm not sold on Hakata Ramen. It's funny how all the servers speak only chinese and not a word of Japanese, not that the requirement is critical but even Sakae does that!
