My second time back at Palais Renaissance's Marmalade Pantry with the wonderful company of an ex-colleague. On a weekday night, it was relatively occupied..with at least 5 groups of diners filling up the place..not bad for a recession like this.
We shared
Ribeye Steak Sandwich with grilled onions avocado and wasabi mayonnaise, $24
A personal favourite of all time. We had the steak done medium..which was too rare for our liking though I really don't mind the tenderness of the steak that way. The meat's easy to chew but somehow that slice of steak had quite abit of tendon in it making chewing more arduous. I'll stick to my medium wellness in future. Still love the wasabi mayo that Marmalade Pantry has perfected. Creamy with a added zest of hotness about the condiment. Rocket salads and sundried tomatoes always make any bad day good..:) Their vegetable chips are still as good.
Salmon Teriyaki with chilled soba, $18
A first for us..the salmon's got a mild hint of fishyness..but I like the way the salmon's cooked..slightly raw in the middle but crispy on the outside. Chilled soba disappointed somehow, the taste of the noodle..reminded me of Sakae's cha soba. Not a fan of it..
Cloud Nine Cupcake, $4
White chocolate cake with cream cheese..fluffy cake with soft frosting..I gobbled it up greedily. A pity the rose cupcake wasn't available...next time!
Chocolate chip peanut butter cookie, $2.40
Very ordinary subway cookie, just that it's not as soft as subway's.
Mango meltaway cookie, $2.40
We both loved this! Lived up to its "meltaway" name...seriously melts in your mouth..buttery and sweet. Pity the mango wasn't evident. Otherwise, a surprise that Marmalade Pantry has.
We da-pao-ed the remaining peanut butter cookie, sucha cute packaging with the marmalade pantry sticker!
Service by Marmalade Pantry surprises from time to time. I found the waiters more helpful here than the other outlet at Hitachi Tower. They're more well informed about promotions and what not. The usual refilling of drinks, clearing of tables.. would've been better if we weren't seated so close to the next table, I could hear nearly every word that was conversed.
10% off with HSBC, min spending of $50.
