TV does wonders as a promotional tool...many a time I've gone past Gina's Vadai at East Coast Road and gave it a miss. It disappeared somehow and resurfaced opposite the previous stall location in a coffee shop. Coupled with its appearance on Lost and Found 3 by Gurmit Singh and Michelle Chia..I had to give it a try!

The humble store front that warns you of a 15-20 minute wait should there be queues. The stall is manned by a husband and wife team, that day their son was there as well.

The price lists...I nearly wanted the cheese vadai..until the husband punched the price into the register...$1.80! That is...too exorbitant for a vadai that size..They've got the normal ones ( plain, prawn, vegetable, tofu, chilli, Dhal), the more premium Crab meat, Ikan Billis and lastly their luxurious Cheese and Big Vadai up for grabs.

We waited at least 10 minutes for the vadais to be fried on the spot.

There! Two of their signatures, the plain and vegetable vadai. They're different from the normal ones I've eaten, it's chewier and really tasty. Not sure how they do it though, the dough's not thick nor pasty. Surprisingly, it ain't too oily either. Prompts you to take bigger bites of this fried goodness. The prawns aren't that small, probably due to the size of the vadai. The vadai's the smallest I've ever seen, the size of 3 small char siew paus at best. At 80 cents a piece, it's one luxurious vadai, but well..it's worth the treat once in a while!
