R and I chanced upon this dessert shop one evening..having been looking high and low for a similar dessert ever since the delicious mango ice we had at the food fair a couple of months back. Very sparsely furnished, all it has is a counter and a number of tables and plastic chairs. One look at the crowd reveals a teenage following. Those were the days when I hung out at Swensens with my schoolmates tucking into an "earthquake" of ice-cream scoops.
雪片冰 is what it is, a very popular Taiwanese dessert.

Make your order at the counter..in my opinion, not many choices are available. The waiter tries to suggest a few hotsellers...
"What about First Kiss? First Date?" He meekly suggested. Both of us were amused. Why didn't he offer "Lovers Tiff", a combination of black sesame shaved ice and red bean, because very coincidentally we did end up quarreling soon after.

Anyhow, Summer Fling ($4.50) it was! Shaved ice with mango cubes and puree. The shaved ice somehow melted too quickly, the mango was too sweet. I didn't think it's worth the price, certainly didn't quite look like what was illustrated either.
I'll continue my hunt for the same taste!
