Being the avid and experimental foodie I am, with Christmas inching closer and closer..how can I give all christmas related food stuff a miss? (Not sparing the bakeries...)

J&Co Donuts

Interesting jacket they've got this year to add to the festive mood. With a story to tell on its latest offering - Black forest!

Black Forest Donut, $1.30
Not spectacular...just chocolate and berry...the cake over the donut anyday!
BreadTalk
Always a leader in innovation, they smashed into the breadscene with their famous floss bread that has generated loads of replicas. This Christmas I was pleasantly surprised with their christmas offerings.

Tree Wise Man, $1.80

A huge chocolate brown tree trunk is all that it is, "pudding" is what I was told. Turns out to be a baked bread that's sweet and stiff on the outside, moist and chewy inside. Delicious it is. It took me awhile to understand the pun on "tree wise men"...brilliant!!
Snowman, $1.6

Shaped like a snowman complete with a hat! Fruit bun draped in white chocolate and a brownie chocolate hat..oh, and a ribbon too! The bread's chewy and finding preserved fruits within was a pleasant find.
Fairmont Hotel
Chocolate Snowman, $8.80

Comes across looking more like a squirrel than a snowman, apart from the red hat! :P It's sold at quite a few places...I've spied it at Sinz chocolate and a couple of other hotels. Ordinary white chocolate figurine.
Hilton Hotel
White chocolate cranberry log, $55 for 500gsm

Dressed in their signature icyblue ribbon and box. I find the concept of the box interesting but it makes re-opening and closing quite a chore! There are two flaps within and you've gotta match it properly.

A cranberry whitechoco log coated in jam and dusted with gold powder! Luxe finish to it. It's got a sponge roll sandwiching the cheesecake and cranberry jam. Between bites, I find nuts as well. Last year's new addition was the Chestnut cheesecake log that everyone in the family adored..this year's cranberry white chocolate log didn't go down too well with the parents.
The first few slices weren't that fabulous but after a week, I say...it's good! The taste somehow sunk into the cake and the sponge cake didn't end up too hard, the jam didn't make the logcake too sweet either. Nice one, hilton!
