Shokudo @ Raffles City

Back to Shokudo at Raffles City Basement to celebrate A's birthday! My second time there after a not too satisfactory first attempt. Crowds are freakish, as usual. At 715pm crowds snaked all the way to The Cocoa Trees with nearly 30 odd people infront. Thank goodness it moved rather quickly.

Gone are the wooden round stamps to reserve the tables, maybe too many people pocketed the cute thing back.

Ravenous we all were...off we headed to the various stalls, I think we tried nearly all?

Ebi tempura. Light batter coated the crunchy prawn, thankfully did not reek of oil.

Yakitori next! Sticks of terriyaki chicken, chicken wings and bacon wrapped quail eggs. I liked the quail egg best, tasty. The chicken was somewhat bland.

Rosti! Can't quite tell the different between Marche/V'illage and Shokudo. Just normal potato patty with bacon/sausage.

Wasabi ebi pizza with fish flakes! The yummiest of the lot, imo. Paper thin pizza, just like a biscuit, the wasabi can be stronger but it's still finger licking good!

Garlic fried rice and salmon don. Both are not too bad dishes.

The assorted sushi platter that looked better than it tasted. The rice was too soft for sushi, the ingredients were just alright. Not quite worth the price tag of $19.90 for 9 pieces.

Dessert time! We opted to share waffles with milk ice-cream (left) and sweet potato with chestnut and honey ice-cream (right). The waffles had crunchy burnt sides but still soft! The milk ice-cream had a hint of white rabbit sweets, maybe we missed it too much! The sweet potato ice-cream had cubes of sweet potato in it, delicious. Tested the yuzu sorbet...ack!

Surprise of the night! The very kind manager gave us a slice of tofu cheesecake! It's not my kinda cake somehow. The cheese didn't go down too well with me.

Ended the meal feeling very stuffed. Not a fan of all the dishes. The long queues put me off, in all honesty. I shall stick to Waraku. :)
