On another of those girlie dates with a longtime friend, L, we headed to cosy PS. Cafe at paragon just because we wanted to pamper ourselves (yet again). Highly raved about, I've heard more about the Dempsey outlet. Snug beside the apparel outlet of Project Shop, PS. Cafe catches the eye of many because of its extended cafe just outside Marks & Spencer.
I like the layout inside, magazines hanging from the grilles, up to you to browse. Laminated menus...chalk written "daily specials"...screams old school.
Water with lemony zest. Beats perrier water anyday. Equally classy, imo.
Sticky date cake drowned in caramel sauce with vanilla icecream ($12.90)
So tempted by the desserts, was deciding between the steamed pudding and the cakes on display, I gave into the cakes after seeing the mind-dizzying display of tall cakes. Twelve bucks for a slice of cake is...expensive. The slice was so tall and thick, literally drowned in caramel sauce...and that scoop of vanilla icecream...sticky dates were generous...with the sprinkling of whole nuts on the cake...the cake's so moist, the best sticky date dessert I've eaten. Far better than Canele I tried earlier! Very unforgettable indeed.
Beef Bolognese ($22)
L's late lunch of spaghetti. Angel-hair pasta tossed with beefy tomato chunks. Not too dry, not too wet, perfect. I pinched from her, yummy!
Service was good, though the space was slightly cramped. Even way past the normal lunch hour customers were trickling in. For good food fabulous desserts, I'd say more of PS. Cafe please!
